And on the final day, the Moments helped me navigate to hidden stashes across the mountain where their chop-busting abilities combined perfectly with just the amount of float I needed in the soft pillows between all those tracks! Value for the money vs. But the big payoff came when it dumped about two feet of fresh powder that was quickly tracked out. I had only brought my two big skis with me, so the Moments became my “on-piste” ski, and in three days on hard, icy groomers, I really felt I dialed in how to ski them and really appreciated how they handled for such a light, backcountry ski inside the resort. This past winter in the Italian Dolomites, we found ourselves on a week-long vacation with almost zero snow. Keeping a centered stance, I can get them edge-to-edge a bit better in moguls, but I prefer another ski if in either of these situations. It boasts a long turn radius (22 meters), and I can feel it in tighter situations. Trees and moguls: The Wildcat is not the quickest, most agile ski I have been on.That said, it remains quite stable for the type of ski it is. Stability: Understandably, the deep rocker lines and weight makes the Wildcat a bit chattery at times.I found I needed to stay on top of these skis to get the most out of them (which is very rewarding), but as soon as I let off, the skis could quickly get away from me. Forgivability: Even though the skis lean more into the freeride category, these are not very forgiving if you make a mistake.Durability: The skis, particularly the bases and ABS sidewalls, are high quality and do not show great wear after two seasons. However, I break these skis out when the snow is harder quite often and find the stiffness and camber really help me keep an edge. Edge hold: Wide touring skis are not going to win any awards for carving or edge hold.It floats quite well due to its deep rocker lines on the tip and tail. Powder: The Wildcat can easily serve as a dedicated powder ski, particularly in heavier or denser snow.Even as a lighter ski, it does not get bounced around in chop or variable snow conditions. Chop and variable snow: Under the mount point, this ski is surprisingly stiff. But for a 108 waisted ski with solid downhill performance, the weight is very manageable for the uphill. Weight: At 1700 grams per ski, this is not the lightest touring ski in the world.
